In the eyes of many, Kevin Durant is the best player in the world right now. Durant has been absolutely sensational throughout his career. The names mentioned alongside Durant for the title of ‘Best in the world’ are LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Stephen Curry.

But only one of those players is still in the playoffs right now. Without these three players in the playoffs, how does one determine the best player in the world?

Kevin Durant fielded that question on Twitter, responding to a user who asked what determined the best player in the world.

Durant noted that there are numerous facets for a player to be considered the best in the world, including their shotmaking, size, efficiency, willingness to pass the ball, ability to guard multiple positions, IQ, coachability, and energy.

Size for position, shotmaking, efficiency, IQ, consistency, being able to guard multiple positions, a wiling passer, coachable, energetic…in my humble opinion

Taking these factors into consideration, it would be very easy to make the case for Durant being the best player in the world. But these are not the only facets considered in the debate.

Fans and analysts often take situations into consideration when determining the best player in the world. And players are always judged on their most recent performances on the biggest stage in the NBA.

Because of this, there have been many people arguing that Kevin Durant is not the best player in the world, because Durant was swept in the first round by the Boston Celtics, and did not play well throughout the entire series.

Durant’s status as the best player in the world is being contested greatly, and there is a big chance that the best player on the team that wins the NBA championship will be considered the best player in the world.
