Kevin Durant is currently leading the voting for the NBA All-Star Game 2023 from the Eastern Conference, which means he is likely to take the role of captain once again. LeBron James is on track to retain his spot as the captain in the Western Conference, so it’ll be interesting to see how both players draft their teams.
Since the NBA adopted the draft format for their All-Star Game, we have seen the players draft their teams on TNT over a video call. However, the league has changed it this season, with the players picking their teams right before the game starts, live during the pre-game broadcast.

This is honestly one of the best ideas the NBA has used to shake up the All-Star game. Captains picking their teams on the court right before the game, like a true pick-up game, is going to make this affair that much more exciting.
Will We See Kevin Durant Play In An All-Star Game?
The last time Kevin Durant played in the All-Star game was in 2019, in his final year with the Golden State Warriors. He has been injured in all 3 years since, despite being named a captain twice. KD has indicated he wants to return prior to the All-Star game and finally participate in the game as a member of the Brooklyn Nets.
LeBron James is undefeated as All-Star captain, and this year might be the best chance KD has to beat him, provided both the players hold their position in voting and are named the captains.
