Following Golden State’s loss to Boston in Game 3, haters and critics lined up in force to call out Draymond Green’s performance. He fouled out in the fourth quarter after scoring just 2 points on 1-4 shooting.
Despite the crushing defeat, Thompson did his best to defend his teammate after the game and remained optimistic about his team’s chances in the series.
“Draymond is here for a reason. We would not be the Warriors without him. He’s one of the best, smartest players I’ve ever played with. All of us are human… One thing I know for sure is we respond like champions.”

Draymond hasn’t had a very productive series so far. He has struggled to keep his cool and score at an efficient pace. His struggles have played a role in Golden State’s 2-1 deficit.
Nevertheless, there is a sense that the series is far from over and Thompson still believes his team can come out on top in the end.
“Just being down 2-1 in a championship series,” Thompson said, via CJ Peterson of Sports Illustrated. “We’ve been in this situation before. I’m getting big 2015 vibes. Being down 2-1 and they play a similar style. A lot of 1-on-1, attacking downhill, spreading the court with really good shooters. That’s very similar,” Thompson said. “They have some very good players on their team, obviously. I don’t think they have LeBron James, but they do have some All-NBA guys in Tatum. Jaylen Brown is knocking on the door.”
With Game 4 set for Friday, it will be interesting to see how the Warriors respond. In a 2-1 hole, Game 4 could be the game that decides the Finals.
Draymond, and everyone else, will have to be at their best if they want to grab a win.
