Klay Thompson On How Many Points He’ll Average Next Season: “You Know, I’m Not Gonna Put An Expectation On It.”

The Golden State Warriors have been pretty bad since their Finals run in 2019. The departure of Kevin Durant that summer set the team back several tiers down, and many of the roster move that followed proved ineffective at replacing what he provided on the basketball court.

But perhaps the biggest reason for Golden State’s downfall has been the absence of Klay Thompson, who has missed the last two years with season-ending injuries.

So when fans got the chance to catch up with Klay during a live video chat on one of his boats, they made sure to ask him about his return, and what type of numbers he expects to put up.

His response was very encouraging:

“How many points am I gonna average next year? You know, I’m not gonna put an expectation on it. I just wanna be an efficient player. I don’t care how many points I score but I wanna have positive impact every time on the hardwood. That real plus/minus stuff. That analytical stuff.”

Nobody knows how Klay will look upon his return to the court. After two major injuries, which he suffered back-to-back, it’s safe to say his body will never quite be the same athletically.

But he still brings plenty of value to the Dubs, and he seems more determined than ever to make a positive impact for his team.

It will be great to finally see him out there and playing after so much time on the sidelines…
