By all accounts, the Los Angeles Lakers had a pretty rough season. Just months after winning the Chip, they were thrust back into action only to encounter injuries that basically de-railed their season.
Many also agree that the roster just wasn’t cut out to win this year, as it lacked good rim protectors and consistent shot makers.
If you ask Lakers GM Rob Pelinka, though, he thinks the roster, as built, was good enough to win — and might have actually made a deep run if not for the injuries.
“We feel like the roster we had this year was a championship caliber roster and obviously there were a lot of things that came into the mix beyond our control that kept us from winning a championship,” Pelinka said.

So where do the Lakers go from here? With not much cap space to work with and players that probably don’t have much trade value, it’s going to be a challenge to shake things up this offseason.
Still, if LeBron and AD get right, and the team works hard to build and develop chemistry, they could get back on the right track and reclaim their status as Western Conference contenders.
Ultimately, we’ll just have to wait and see for ourselves how they perform.
