The Miami Heat suffered a big loss against the Boston Celtics on Sunday, with the C’s eliminating them in the 2022 Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat fought hard for this moment and secured the No. 1 seed in the East, but that didn’t matter against a hungry Celtics team that dominated Game 7 from start to finish.

Following the match, everybody had something to say about the game and how things ended, and the Heat players weren’t the exception. While Jimmy Butler made it clear that they are winning it all next season, others took a different approach. Kyle Lowry had some things to say about this season, calling it a ‘waste’ since the Heat didn’t reach the Finals.

The veteran point guard didn’t have the best series, and he was bothered by injuries during the season, so we definitely didn’t see the best from him. Lowry had bigger expectations for this campaign and was pretty disappointed after it came to an abrupt end:

“It’s been a wild season for me individually. My personal life has been a little bit different for me this year,” said Lowry, via Sports Illustrated. “But I’m given an opportunity to play basketball, and any time I get a chance to play, I’m really happy to do it.”

“I wish I would have been able to play a little bit better, at a higher level, but I didn’t. It just adds fuel. You don’t know how many more opportunities you will have to get back to this, so for me, honestly it was a waste of a year. I only play to win championships. It was fun, and I appreciate the guys, my teammates, and I appreciate the opportunity. But for me, it’s a waste of a year. You’re not playing for a championship — you’re not winning a championship, it’s a wasted year.”

After finishing his time with the Toronto Raptors last season, Lowry joined the Heat to help them play for important things. They were so close to returning to the NBA Finals, but the Celtics had different plans. Next year, the Heat will have another chance to run it back, but the competition doesn’t get any easier every season.

Lowry is disappointed with this outcome, but this won’t be the end for the Heat. They will be healthy next season and once that moment comes, the East will be on notice about the Floridians.
