LeBron James And Anthony Davis Are Hyped After Lakers Reveal Throwback Jersey For Next Season

The Los Angeles Lakers recently revealed their throwback jersey for the upcoming season, and fans absolutely loved it. The jersey comes from their very first season in the NBA before they were even in Los Angeles, as the Lakers paid tribute to their origins in Minneapolis.

It was recreated in honor of the 75th season in the league for the most storied franchise in the NBA and shows the iconic colors from back then.

It is a lesser-known fact that the Minneapolis Lakers were, in fact, the first dynasty of the NBA, not the Boston Celtics. Led by the great George Mikan, they became BAA champions in 1949, after which they would win the first NBA championship in 1950. After missing out on the title the following year, they would win 3 in a row from 1952 to 1954 for the first-ever three-peat in NBA history.

It is good to see that era getting some love here from the Lakers, and the team at present can only hope to touch the heights that those teams in the 1950s reached. They won a title in 2020, sure, but the following two seasons have been full of disappointments. Last season, in particular, was a disaster, and they’ll be looking for some inspiration from this throwback as they hope to have a bounce-back season. James and Davis would be key to that, with new coach Darvin Ham stating that the latter would be their most important player in 2022-23. Perhaps Davis channels his inner George Mikan and returns to form? Well, the Lakers and their fans would surely be hoping that is the case.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
