The Los Angeles Lakers were upset by the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night, dropping to 13-19 for the season after a painful loss against a team that looked weaker than them on paper. The NBA has shown time and time again that it doesn’t matter how strong you are, there’s no easy rival in the association.

It was a hard-fought game for both teams that was decided in the final seconds of regulation. LeBron James received the inbound pass and tried to get away from LaMelo Ball and PJ Washington. He clashed with Gordon Hayward but managed to give the ball to Dennis Schroder, who took the 3-pointer.

Unfortunately, the German point guard missed the shot, and the Los Angeles Lakers lost their last chance to win the match. Fans weren’t happy with this and once again attacked the team for wasting LeBron’s time. In the middle of the play, James lost his shoe, and probably his cool too.

After the play was finished and the Hornets secured their win, James stayed on the floor, and while some teammates offered him a hand to get up, James didn’t accept any of that and waited until somebody got him his shoe. He never took anybody’s hands, and his face said he wasn’t happy with anything at that moment.

Once again, the King left his everything on the court, scoring 34 points, grabbing 2 rebounds, and dishing 8 assists. The second-best scorer on the Lakers was Austin Reaves, who contributed with 20 points, while Russell Westbrook added 17, to go along with 5 rebounds and 7 assists.

This is a painful loss because the Hornets seemed like an easy rival for the Lakers. They need to win as many games as possible while Anthony Davis remains out with a stress injury in his right foot, and these losses, against a weaker team, at home, are really hard to digest.

The Lakers return to action on Christmas Day against the Dallas Mavericks, trying to bounce back and get a big win against Luka Doncic and co.
