The Los Angeles Lakers played the Dallas Mavericks on Christmas and, despite a scoring explosion from LeBron James, were unable to secure a victory. Things looked good for the Lakers in the first half, they had a good lead going into the break. But then the Mavericks blew them out in the 3rd quarter in historic fashion, taking advantage of the lack of proper size on the roster.

LeBron James is unhappy with the way things are going, as he should be, considering that the Los Angeles Lakers have again fallen 7 games under .500. With Anthony Davis missing time once more, it’s hard to see what will lead to more wins for the team as well. And James, who has made some noises hinting at the Lakers’ poor outlook for the rest of the season before, did so again in his press conference following the loss.

LeBron James’ Latest Statement Makes It Seem Like The King Doesn’t Believe In The Lakers Too Much

The Los Angeles Lakers are severely lacking in size after Anthony Davis’ injury. Thomas Bryant has put in some impressive performances, but he is not the answer. This was exposed against the Mavericks, with Darvin Ham running extremely small lineups that were dominated by Dallas. And with no quick answer to the team’s woes, LeBron James seemingly sent another message to the front office with a comment about the team’s future.

Reporter: “You start 2 and…”

LeBron James: “10.”

Reporter: “You dug yourselves out, to a certain extent. What attributes have you seen that give you the confidence that there will be a figured-out answer to the problems?”

LeBron James: “I think I look at it that way and I look at it another way too. Like, how many times are you going to try to dig yourself out until there’s too much dirt on you?”

The Lakers had found form, with Anthony Davis even looking like an MVP candidate, but they are properly struggling once again. This quote from their leader is unlikely to inspire confidence, it’s clear that James is losing belief in his team’s chances.

The Los Angeles Lakers roster has an unbelievable number of holes at the minute. The lack of shooting has been apparent all season, and the lack of size is now making itself felt as well. If they are to make any waves, they need AD back, and that’s not happening anytime soon. If LeBron James is already this unhappy, this latest message should send more warning signs to the front office about making some moves.
