LeBron James is in the middle of what may turn out to be the worst season of his career, besting the shambolic performances of the Los Angeles Lakers from last season. The front office of the Lakers has been deliberately passive and trying to do asset management as LeBron plays the best basketball we have ever seen anyone that age play.
Sports Illustrated had enough of the mishandling of LeBron James on the Lakers by Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss, publishing a cover with LeBron on it titled ‘waste management’.
There’s no excuse for what Buss and Pelinka have done to this Lakers’ roster. Their mismanagement is the reason the Lakers are on the outside looking into the play-in tournament.
Sports Illustrated's latest cover:

The organization is expected to keep their passivity going by not making any trades this season after Anthony Davis’s injury last week. LeBron is going to carry this subpar Lakers’ roster to an 11th seed but we saw last year that this version of James can’t single-handedly win games like his younger self.
Are The Lakers To Blame Or Is LeBron James To Blame?
Many people are wary of Klutch Sports’ influence on the Lakers and whether the sports agency founded by LeBron’s close friend has been making the personnel decisions in LA. LBJ pushed for the Lakers to trade for Davis and the team made it happen, resulting in a championship.
The Lakers chose not to re-sign guys like Alex Caruso and chose not to bring in DeMar DeRozan, who was picked by LeBron in favor of adding Russell Westbrook. That move has been the single-most damaging one and was completely an idea by the Lakers’ front office.
Obviously, LeBron will take some blame, but front offices letting players have immense input and then coming around to blame them isn’t right. Most of the bad decisions for this team have been made by management, with LeBron paying the price on the court.
