Luka Doncic had a terrific 2019/20 season with the Dallas Mavericks, taking his game to the next level, leading the Dallas Mavericks to make the postseason, threatening to beat the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round.
Doncic was a beast all season long and he actually explained why it was easier for him to score in the NBA than it was in Europe. Before entering the league, Luka was already a big deal in Europe and two years later, NBA fans have learned that, too. This kid is something else and he’s proven that.
Playing in a bigger court with different rules has favored his game as he explained in an interview last year.
“Here in the NBA, it’s easier to score compared to Europe, of course. In Europe, the court is smaller, and here there is the defensive three seconds rule. I think it’s easier to score here,” Doncic said, via The Washington Post.
The Slovenian point guard was great this campaign, even being considered a candidate for the MVP award at some point. For a sophomore, that’s a lot to say. Luka made one of the most memorable shots in the postseason this year to give the Mavs a dramatic victory over the Los Angeles Clippers and many people think they had a good chance to beat the Californians if Kristaps Porzingis remained healthy.
Next year is going to be huge for the 21-year-old, who will try to improve the impressive things he did this season. The future is bright for Doncic, and if he knows what things he can use to his advantage, the sky’s the limit for him.
