Luka Doncic will forever be tied with Real Madrid after spending the formative years of his basketball career with the team. Luka joined the club in 2012 and went on to win the EuroLeague title and MVP in his final season with them in 2018 before moving on to the NBA. Doncic has always spoken fondly of his time in Spain and he probably had his eyes glued to the screen as Real Madrid FC took on Liverpool FC in the Champions League final.

Much to Doncic’s delight, the Spanish team would come out on top in European soccer’s grand finale as they won 1-0 and Luka was thrilled to see them bring home the trophy for the first time since 2018:

“Its so nice to be a REAL MADRID fan! “

Real Madrid is the most successful team in the history of the competition and they extended their lead at the top with their 14th title. Luka will be hoping to bring some titles to Dallas in the future as well after his Mavericks went all the way to the Western Conference Finals this season. They were no match for the Golden State Warriors, but the season has been one full of positives, regardless.

Just to get to the Conference Finals, they pulled off the biggest upset of these playoffs as they stunned the top-seeded Phoenix Suns in the Semifinals in 7 games. Luka thoroughly dominated the team with the best record in the NBA and these playoffs have also seen the emergence of Jalen Brunson as a potential star in this league.

While the future does seem bright in Dallas, they do need to make some moves in the off-season if they are to truly contend for championships. They have with them a generational player in Luka and if they do a good job of surrounding him with talent, who knows, they might enjoy the kind of success that Real Madrid has had over the years.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
