The NBA Draft tends to bring out some truly remarkable stories, and this one was no different. MarJon Beauchamp had his dreams come true as he was selected with the 24th pick by the Milwaukee Bucks, but things could have ended very differently after all that he had gone through.

Beauchamp had had a very rough path to the NBA as he grew up homeless and he had to play at multiple High Schools due to various issues, before finally making a name for himself in Arizona. He would then reject various offers from Division I colleges and opted to join a training program in San Francisco to prepare for the 2021 Draft. Unfortunately for MarJon, the COVID-19 pandemic meant that gyms had to be closed, and he had to return home, where he battled depression. He would end up joining a local junior college, where his performances once again drew the attention of the elites.

He would once again pass up on that opportunity to join a big college and headed to the G League Ignite program instead. There, he impressed as he averaged 15.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, which helped him get drafted. On an Instagram live on his page, Beauchamp declared that he’d be wearing No. 0 on his jersey in the NBA.

It is truly incredible to see Beauchamp get to the NBA after everything he has been through, and wearing that number does mean something to him. The Bucks have gotten a fine young man who is going to work his butt off to make a name for himself in this league and help his team win.

His new teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo is another one of the great stories in the NBA and Giannis had shared an inspiring message during the premiere of the movie ‘Rise’, which documented the Antetokounmpo family who struggled ever so hard to help their children get to the NBA.
