Kyrie Irving has every NBA fan intrigued with what he’s going to do next. The Brooklyn Nets star guard has been at loggerheads with the franchise over his next contract for a while, and no resolution seems to be in sight so far. Rumors of teams being interested, namely the Lakers, continue to fly around but it is hard to say if Irving will end up leaving the franchise.

Many NBA insiders and analysts have weighed in on the situation, sharing different reports of what is seemingly going on behind the scenes with the franchise, but the parties involved have held their silence for the most part, except for some cryptic tweets from Kyrie. Considering that whatever the outcome is will shape the Brooklyn Nets’ future for the next 3-4 years at the very least, though, interest in the situation is at an all-time high.

Amid all of this, Kyrie Irving was seen visiting the BET awards, where he was asked the all-important question by a reporter on the red carpet. When asked if he still wishes to be a part of the organization, Irving’s response was an interesting but slightly confusing one.

Interviewer: “Kyrie, I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t ask you this question.”

Kyrie Irving: “Go ahead, go ahead, ask it.”

Interviewer: “Do you want to be a Brooklyn Net still?”

Kyrie Irving: *points to the left and laughs* Passing it, pass it to my left.”

Irving has always been a mercurial figure, so a response like this from him is the least surprising thing in the world. Kyrie is seemingly at a place where he’s not ready to share a decision with the world, even if he has reached one, but the situation also doesn’t seem to be affecting him too much.

This response is sure to raise eyebrows among NBA fans who are trying to gauge what the outcome of this situation will be and Nets fans are unlikely to be thrilled by it all. In any case, until a decision is made on whether he picks up his player option, there will likely be no concrete developments in the matter.
