As the greatest basketball player ever, Michael Jordan is a star so big that he has transcended the sport itself.

Even now, decades after his retirement, his name and likeness are constantly being used in projects — including the latest installment of PGA Tour 2K23.

(via USA Today):

On Monday, 2K announced that PGA Tour 2K23 is coming out on Oct. 14, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, anyone who pre-orders the Deluxe or Tiger Woods Editions can play several days early on Oct. 11, 2022. Woods hasn’t been on the cover of PGA Tour 2K since 2013, so it’s a pretty big deal.

“It’s not only great to be back on the cover of a video game, but the Executive Director role makes this a truly unique opportunity,” Woods said in a press release. “2K is the perfect partner for me and I am excited to continue impacting the game and culture of golf beyond my play on the PGA Tour.”

There will be more than 14 playable professional golfers available at launch. Other notable names include Will Zalatoris, Tony Finau, Lydia Ko, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, Lexi Thompson, and Brooke Henderson. Though none are quite as exciting as Michael Jordan — yes, 23 himself is in PGA Tour 2K23. He’s unlockable if you pre-order any version of the game as DLC. Wild that Jordan will be in this and NBA 2K23.

Michael Jordan is a well-documented golf player, and he is a pretty popular figure in the sport. So really, it’s no surprise to see him in this game.

This is the first release of a game in the series since 2020, when 2K21 was made available to players. So after a break of sorts, 2K is really pulling out all the stops to make this installment the best of the series so far.

Of course, basketball fans usually play the NBA version of 2K, but Jordan’s inclusion in the PGA Tour game might attract some hoopers to this game as well.
