Being Ben Simmons might not be the best feeling in the world at this moment, it feels like almost no one in the NBA community has any nice things to say about the Brooklyn Nets man. His unavailability to play in a crucial Game 4 for the Nets that saw them get swept by the Celtics seems to have been the last straw for a lot of people, with Reggie Miller leading the charge in the scathing criticism of Simmons that has followed.

And the latest revelation isn’t likely to sit well with a lot of fans either. Simmons awoke with back soreness the day before Game 4, which was touted as the reason he would not be able to play. But a fan has now shared a screenshot of what appears to be Simmons playing in a session of the game Call of Duty for 23 hours straight.

Simmons, like a lot of other young stars in the league, is known for playing video games in his spare time, and Call of Duty is among the most popular online games that a lot of players play. It’s not surprising that he might play this game for long hours considering that he couldn’t train or play, which normally wouldn’t be an issue. However, with fans already riled up by his antics, this particular tweet also inspired some heated reactions.

“The irony of Ben Simmons grinding on a shooting game is palpable.”

“Lmao I cannot get over this.”

“Doing lunges while playing WarZone?”

“Now this is journalism I care about.”

“Does he at least have a positive kill ratio, what are his stats?”

“Bad back, sure man.”

“Every time I think Ben Simmons news can’t get worse.”

“I don’t even know what to say at this point.”

“At least he’s practicing his shooting, guys.”

“As a Nets fan, if I don’t laugh, I’ll cry.”

Simmons is obviously allowed to do whatever he likes in his time off, but at this point what he’s doing or not doing isn’t even going to matter. Forcing his way out of Philly, trying to get paid for not playing, and then eventually not even appearing for his new team seems to have firmly turned people against him. The only way this changes if Simmons can get healthy both mentally and physically over the offseason and come back strong to shut all his doubters up.
