Paul George Compares Ja Morant To Derrick Rose: “Guarding Ja Is Very Similar To How Derrick Rose Was”

The Los Angeles Clippers are winless in the 2021/22 NBA season, facing two dangerous teams in the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies. Stephen Curry first torched them with 45 points, going off on Paul George and co.

Following that game, the Grizzlies disrespected the Clippers at home behind Ja Morant’s incredible performance. The third-year point guard is already making noise in the league, demonstrating his talent, trying to lead his team to the playoff for the second consecutive season.

Paul George had the not-so-easy job of guarding the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. PG13 was in awe of Morant’s performance, comparing him to the youngest MVP in NBA history, Derrick Rose.

“He’s just explosive and electrifying. I’d compare him to like D-Rose. I guarded him my rookie year, the Indy-Chicago series, and guarding Ja is very similar to how Derrick Rose was,” George said, per Tomer Azarly of Clutch Points.

In the end, the Grizzlies beat the Clippers 120-114. Ja dropped 28 points with 2 rebounds and 8 assists. The 22-year-old is trying to make a statement this season and set the bar even higher after surprising everybody last term.

The Clippers have found themselves in a difficult position against two difficult rivals. They won’t have Kawhi Leonard for a big part of the season and winning these early games is essential.

After starting 0-2, they know they have to do better. However, Tyronn Lue showed good things in these games, making the right adjustments. The job won’t be easy, but things will get a lot better for the Clippers if they start winning games.

PG13 finished the match with 41 points and 10 rebounds. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough against Ja’s efforts.
