Portland Trail Blazers Head Coach Chauncey Billups On Damian Lillard: "He's Loyal, He's Really From A Generation Before That He's Playing In, He's From That Cloth You Know."

Portland Trail Blazers Head Coach Chauncey Billups On Damian Lillard: "He's Loyal, He's Really From A Generation Before That He's Playing In, He's From That Cloth You Know."

The Portland Trail Blazers were one of the top teams during the late 2010s. The reason behind the little bit of success they had was due to Damian Lillard. Lillard was drafted by the Blazers, and since then, he has been one of the only positive things that happened to the team.

Lillard's loyalty to the Blazers is truly praiseworthy. In an era where most NBA players chase championships and money, Lillard has stayed true to his promise of winning a title for the franchise.

He is so loyal to the franchise that he recently announced that he wants to stay a Trail Blazer for his entire NBA career. But the only question is, can he really win an NBA Championship with the team?

Chauncey Billups Praises Damian Lillard

In an effort to help Lillard win a ring, the Trail Blazers have hired a new head coach in Chauncey Billups. Billups was one of the better players during his playing career and will now hope to lead the team with a different strategy.

Ahead of the 2022-23 NBA season, Billups talked about Lillard. In an interview, the new head coach of the Trail Blazers had nothing but praise for the 32-year-old.

Via Sportskeeda:

"Dame is just, he's always honest in his interviews. He's just a real one, you know... He's loyal, he's really from a generation before that he's playing in, he's from that cloth you know... So having him healthy, having him to just pour in, you know and having Nurk back and little GP, he just my kind of dude, he gonna play the right way at all times. Jerami Grant bringing him on board having that athleticism... So we'll have a lot of opportunity to do a lot of different things this year."

It feels like Billups and Lillard are already in good synergy and ready to begin the new generation of the Portland Trail Blazers.

The franchise trusted the duo of Lillard and CJ McCollum for years, but at the end of the day, it wasn't enough to win a ring in the league. Now, the organization has broken up the duo and has decided to get valuable players around Lillard to try winning the title again.
