When it comes to rare memorabilia, Michael Jordan’s accessories and equipment from his playing days are usually among the top items that end up breaking records with sales. From sneakers to game-worn jerseys, anything associated with Jordan’s history usually demands a hefty price tag in the world of rare memorabilia.

But now a collector would seem to reach his paradise as a one-of-a-kind item is going up for auction that has not just Michael Jordan, but also Kobe Bryant’s history attached to it. A rare basketball card is reportedly going up for auction that has been autographed by both Jordan and Bryant.

According to the New York Post, by the time the auction ends on August 23, the one-of-a-kind collectible, which is the centerpiece of Heritage Auctions’ Summer Platinum Night Sports sale, is predicted to surpass the existing record, a Steph Curry-signed Logoman that sold for $5.9 million in July 2021, with bidding already at $2.9 million.

Chris Ivy, Heritage’s director of sports auctions, described the interest in the memorabilia as “astronomical”.

“This is unquestionably the best of [all Logomans] due to its status as the only one bearing this pair of autographs documenting a brotherhood of elite-tier legends.”

A huge 8-by-8-foot block of hard maple that was removed from the famous United Center basketball court, the site of Jordan’s Bulls dynasty in the 1990s, is also up for auction. The current price for the court cut is $155,000, but it may reach $500,000.

“Air Jordan, 5x MVP, 6x Finals MVP, 10x Scoring Title, HOF 2009” is inscribed on the court tile, along with his 32-inch-long signature in black Sharpie. It is insane how much people are willing to pay for holding on to a part of Jordan’s history with the Bulls.

Michael Jordan And Kobe Bryant’s Legacy Will Always Be Connected

It is a common belief across the NBA world that Kobe Bryant is the closest we have seen to any player replicating what Michael Jordan did on the basketball court. Just one championship short of tying Jordan’s number, Bryant always looked at Jordan like an elder brother.

Even at the Lakers’ memorial ceremony to honor Kobe Bryant after his death, Jordan admitted that no one was as close to him in the league as Bryant was. Bryant used to text Jordan even as late as 3 AM to ask about basketball-related things. At first, Jordan was annoyed, but then he realized how passionate Kobe was and started to respect it.
