Shaquille O'Neal

Shaquille O’Neal is widely known as a jokester by the NBA community. On his podcast, and on the ‘Inside the NBA’ show, the Big Diesel is always the source of laughter and smiles.

Unsurprisingly, it was often that way in the locker room as well back when O’Neal was still an active member of the NBA.

But a recent story told by Gary Payton (who was teammates with Shaq in L.A. and Miami) has some people questioning if Shaq may have taken things too far.

According to Payton, the star big man used to prank rookies by dousing them in a bucket of his own urine while they were in a stall.

“Shaq is a jokester, so if one of the rookies was in a stall, he would take a bucket and use the bathroom in it for about a week, then all of a sudden he’d pour it on them,” Payton said.

Unsurprisingly, fans were shocked to hear the truth and revealed what their reaction would be if such a thing was pulled on them.

Shaq has yet to comment on his side of the story, but we do know that his shenanigans did not go unpunished.

As Payton would go on to reveal, he got the Diesel back once when he swiped a pair of his underwear and forced him to walk around with a towel draped around his waist.

“So I said, I gotta get him,” said Payton.”So I got his drawers one day, and I took them and he had to wear underneath them underneath his thing and be freeballing all the time, right. But we messed up his pants, so he didn’t have no drawers because he was trying to find his drawers and I had them, you know what I’m saying. So he had to ride a towel around him and Shaq don’t care, he’ll go outside with the towel on, everything.”

“He was just doing all kinds of. He’d get in his truck, ride around the thing and then he’d throw the towel out and he’d be freeballing. So I used to keep all the shorts and pair of drawers and all that stuff.”

So, NBA Twitter can rest easy knowing that Shaq was on the other end of some brutal pranks.

Still, dumping your own urine on a teammate is crossing a line and it’s quite bizarre that nobody has mentioned it before.

Makes you wonder what else has been going on in NBA locker rooms for all of these years…
