Steph Curry Says Patrick Mahomes Is Very Similar To Him: "I See A Lot Of Myself In Him, Obviously There’s Been A Lot Of Comparisons. Just That Creativity. You Can’t Blink Or You’ll Miss Something Special."

Stephen Curry is one of the most entertaining and best players in the NBA right now. Even though his Golden State Warriors have struggled to win games this season, the point guard is having huge performances that have drawn a lot of attention. He's been putting up a show for quite some time now but this year Curry has taken things to the next level.

That's why he compared himself to one of the best NFL players right now, Patrick Mahomes, a very entertaining player to watch, too. Mahomes recently lost in the Super Bowl LV to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he made a couple of eye-popping plays that demonstrated the kind of player he is. That is why he is Curry's player in the NFL, as he recently stated.

The three-time NBA champion joined the “Huddle & Flow” podcast and talked about football, including his favorite team, the Carolina Panthers. Curry was asked why he didn't become a 49ers fan given all the time he's spent in the Bay and his response was clear.

“I just can’t do it. Growing up, going to Bank of America Stadium and watching Jake Delhomme and Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammad, Tim Biakabutuka,” Curry said, via Kansas City Star. “I can go down the list of all my favorite Panthers, Sam Mills, Thomas Davis.

“I can’t let that go. I can’t be a two-team type of guy. I’ll root for them (49ers), I’ll go to a game, I’ll be Bay Area proud when they win, but when the Panthers come out to the Bay, you know what side of the stadium I’m going to be on.”

Moreover, when asked about his favorite player, he didn't mention Teddy Bridgewater or Christian McCaffrey; he went with the 2018 NFL MVP, explaining how similar he is with the player.

“Right now? (Patrick) Mahomes, for sure,” Curry said without hesitation.

The podcast hosts asked why.

“I see a lot of myself in him, obviously there’s been a lot of comparisons,” Curry said. “Just that creativity. You can’t blink or you’ll miss something special. I just love his confidence. He knows that at any point he can do something special.

“He’s always got options. He’s got a way to make a play, using his feet or his arm, sidearm pass, whatever it is. He’s surrounded by some weapons and he knows how to use them. That guy, he’s special. He’s a generational talent, obviously. So, love watching him.”

These guys have the talent to create a big play out of nowhere and that's what makes them special. Curry is always giving highlights to fans while Pat is the same, even though some plays don't end up like he wants them to.

Mahomes is younger than Curry but they are very similar and when the latter retires, he'll have a lot of great plays to compare to Mahomes'. These two are two generational talents and we can't wait to see what else they're going to bring to the table in the future.
