Steve Kerr is someone who has enjoyed a lot of success during his time in the NBA. Be it as a player or as a coach, Kerr seems to attract the silverware to himself. As a player, he was part of a championship-winning team five times.

First, it was during his stint with the Chicago Bulls, where he was part of the second three-peat of the Bulls during the Michael Jordan era. After moving on from the Bulls, he joined the Spurs and won two more rings as a player.

But in all five teams, he was a role player, and that changed when he tried his luck with coaching. Since taking the helm of the Golden State Warriors as a coach, Kerr has done great things for the franchise.

He has led them to three NBA Championships and is hoping to win another one this postseason. While most are aware that the Kerr-led Warriors have always been a dominating side, they might fail to recognize some of his achievements. One such record that Kerr has to his name was recently highlighted on Reddit.

Reddit user u/lopea182 pointed out how many playoff series Kerr has lost as a head coach of the Warriors before the NBA Finals. Well, the answer is that he has never lost a playoff series as a coach before the NBA Finals. The Reddit post also pointed out a few more things as it said:

“This stat isn’t news to anyone, but it really puts into perspective the level of success Kerr has enjoyed as a head coach up to this point, with exception to two injury/COVID-shortened seasons. If the Warriors can make another run to the Finals this year, Kerr will push his overall playoff series record to 23-2 if they win it all or 22-3 if they fall just short.”

It is truly surprising that Kerr has been a head coach for more than eight years and is yet to lose a playoff series before the NBA Finals.

Even this season, the Warriors have crossed the first hurdle of the playoffs. Now, they face the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference Semifinals and already have a 1-0 lead in the series.

The way things are going as of now, it will not be a surprise if the Dubs make it to the Finals once again and Kerr further improves his coaching record in the postseason.
