For a team to succeed in the NBA, the presence of great superstars on a roster is extremely important. But apart from these superstars, having a great supporting cast is equally crucial. Over the years, a plethora of great supporting players have left their mark in the NBA.
Among them is the current head coach of the Golden State Warriors, Steve Kerr. Kerr is certainly a great head coach and the person at the helm of the Warriors dynasty. But during his playing career, Kerr had the fortune of playing with the likes of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Tim Duncan, and more players.
Steve Kerr Has A Unique All-Time Starting Five
Considering Kerr had a good career that had him playing with talented superstars, fans always want to hear his take on forming a starting five of his former teammates. He did so recently, and it was certainly an interesting list.
Via The SportsRush:
“Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Tim Duncan, Shaq — I played with him in Orlando for several months — and Mark Price. Mark was incredible. He was one of the first guys that I had ever seen that could shoot 3-pointers off the dribble and off the catch really well, and was just so dynamic with the ball in his hands. He was actually a lot like Steph in that you had to pick him up well beyond the 3-point line … and this was in an era where 3-pointers weren’t really emphasized. Mark was probably taking four or five [3-pointers] a game. If he played today and he were taking 15 to 20 threes a game, as strong and fast as he was, and just how dynamic he was, he’d be an All-Star every year.”
Kerr was regarded as one of the best three-pointers of his time. Keeping that in mind, it’s no surprise that Kerr explained why he let Mark Price crack his all-time teammates’ starting five.
