The Naismith Hall of Fame is generally reserved for players and other basketball-related figures. There are new inductees every year, and the Hall of Fame has recently announced the candidates who can be inducted in the class of 2023.

The players mentioned were Dwyane Wade, Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki, and Tony Parker. Coach Gregg Popovich is also an eligible candidate to get inducted into the Hall of Fame as well.

The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced the list of eligible candidates for the Class of 2023: Dwyane Wade, Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Gregg Popovich

There is no doubt that all of these players and Gregg Popovich deserve to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. They are all multiple-time All-Stars and championship winners, while Gregg Popovich is a proven championship coach. It remains to be seen who ends up making the final cut, but everyone here is a deserving candidate.

Dwyane Wade Wanted To Be The First Player To Win A Championship From His Draft Class

Dwyane Wade is a first-ballot Hall of Famer, but at the time he was drafted, he definitely was not the most touted prospect. In fact, Dwyane Wade notably claimed that he wanted to win his first championship before anyone else in his draft class to “strike first” because he “wasn’t a big name in the class”.

“I wanted to strike first. I wasn’t a big name in the class like those guys, so I needed something to separate myself or something that would put me on their level and winning a championship at 24 was that to me.”

There is no doubt that Dwyane Wade has done more than enough to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He has won 3 championships, notably getting the FMVP award in 2006 as well. Dwyane Wade was an elite player in his prime, and he has retired as a Miami Heat legend.

Hopefully, we do get to see Dwyane Wade get inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2023. He is one of the game’s greatest shooting guards and seeing him get honored would be fantastic. Even if he doesn’t get inducted into the Hall of Fame this upcoming year, it is only a matter of time before that will happen.
