In the city of Los Angeles, the Lakers are the talk of the town. Despite being well below .500, the story with LeBron James and Anthony Davis continues to be the biggest narrative in Southern California.
But there’s also another team to watch in the city, and they are instilling fear in just about every team in the league.
In a report by Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, he revealed the league’s true feelings about the Clippers and foreshadowed their future acquisition of talent.
“People are scared of the Clippers. They’re scared that the sleeping giant is about to wake up. They are definitely going to be buyers [at the trade deadline]. They’re looking for a switchable backup big. Someone who can at least hold there own on switches.”

At 21-18 on the season, the Clippers might not look like much now but they have far too much talent to be ignored. Together, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have proven they are still in the title race and the Clips might just be a trade or two away from the favorites to come out of the West.
The question is, can their stars stay healthy long enough to see this through?
Clippers Stars Have Been Decimated By Injuries
For the Clippers, their biggest obstacle has mostly been injuries. Aside from a few blown playoff series, we haven’t really gotten the chance to see the Clippers at full strength and that continues today.
With guys constantly in and out of the lineup, there was an understandable level of frustration among all of Clipper Nation.
Amid growing backlash and criticism, LAC coach Tyronn Lue felt compelled to defend his superstar after Saturday’s blowout loss to the Kings.
“They definitely want to play,” Lue said of Kawhi and PG. “We’ve just gotta be smart about it… Kawhi missed 15 months of basketball, you think he doesn’t want to play?”
The Clippers are far from a perfect team and it would be bold to assume they will coast through the West. This year, more than ever, the Conference is deep and riddled with challenges.
But after years of failed expeditions, the time is now for this team to find some success and finally win something for the first time in their history. Such a task is never easy, but the Clippers may just have the personnel to pull it off.
