Kevin Durant was a beloved figure among NBA fans during his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder but all that changed in 2016. That was, of course, when Durant decided to join the Golden State Warriors, and he has been the subject of much criticism ever since.

While he has a lot of haters now, he still has more than his fair share of fans, and we got to see a wholesome interaction when the Brooklyn Nets headed to Charlotte to face the Hornets. A young fan in attendance held up a poster that said Durant was her GOAT, not Hornets owner Michael Jordan, and KD nodded and smiled at her.

That was a nice little interaction right there between them. Durant and the Nets put on a show for her, too, as they blew out the Hornets 123-106 to register their 11th straight win. The Nets are clicking on all cylinders at the moment as they look to make amends for how last season ended for them. They are just two games behind the top-seeded Celtics, and no one would have seen this coming after the way Brooklyn started this 2022-23 NBA season.

Kevin Durant Said He Doesn’t Care About Being Better Than Michael Jordan Or LeBron James

While the fan has KD as her GOAT, the man himself doesn’t particularly care about being regarded as the best ever. He said he doesn’t give a s*** about being better than LeBron James or Jordan, adding that he just wants to hoop. It is pretty much in line with what we have heard from Durant in recent years.

He just wants to play basketball and not worry about everything else that comes with it. KD did, though, have some high praise for MJ and LeBron recently, as he called the former the GOAT while the latter was termed the most accomplished player in NBA history.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
