John Wall was synonymous with the Washington Wizards for a lot of his NBA career, his partnership with Bradley Beal brought the best times the franchise has seen in a long time. Wall was instrumental in helping the Wizards win a few playoff series in the last decade and he likely wouldn’t have been traded if not for the multiple serious injuries he struggled with in his last years with the team.

After joining the Houston Rockets, Wall averaged 20 points per game throughout 40 games but hasn’t played since. Earlier in the season, Wall and the Rockets had a few issues regarding his role and it has resulted in the guard not playing for the entirety of the season. There were rumors of a trade that would send him to the Los Angeles Lakers, but that never really materialized before the trade deadline.

A recent report from The Atheltic’s David Aldridge suggests that Wall would welcome a reunion with the team where he enjoyed his greatest success and has discussed the possibility of returning to the Wizards.

“If it can plausibly be argued that the [Los Angeles] Lakers would benefit by getting Wall from Houston for Russell Westbrook, a potential trade rumored to have been discussed before the trade deadline, why wouldn’t the Wizards also improve by re-emigrating their former five-time All-Star?” Aldridge wrote. “Wall would welcome a return to the team that took him with the No. 1 pick in the 2010 draft. It’s something he recently discussed with people close to him and around the league.

“‘That … is true,’ one NBA source said Tuesday.”

The Wizards have acquired several quality players like Kyle Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis to build a better team around Bradley Beal and getting Wall back would only add to the quality on their roster. If the move were to go through, it would be a lovely story in the NBA, but it remains to be seen if the Wizards themselves want to factor Wall into their plans.
