NBA Rumors: Kawhi Leonard Will Likely Re-Sign With The Los Angeles Clippers

Good news for Clippers Nation as Kawhi Leonard seems to be ready to stay with the team beyond this season. There have been little hints that point out an extended stay in Los Angeles for the Klaw. Kawhi landed in town to help the team win the NBA championship, just like he did with the Toronto Raptors two years ago.

Even though he was unable to do so last year and this one, things are getting more complicated for the team, Leonard is reportedly ready to stay there and re-sign with the team and that’s the general thought around the league. After buying an incredible mansion in Los Angeles, it seems to be clearer that the 2x NBA champion wants to remain a Clipper.

Via Truehoop (courtesy of HoopsHype):

“As of today, there is no reason to think Leonard’s packing his bags. One non-Clippers executive placed the odds of Leonard leaving L.A. this summer at less than one percent. But the whole NBA is well aware Kawhi has the option to turn down his $36 million extension this summer to become a free agent. The team generously affords him the luxury of commuting from his home in San Diego even if he’s late to team activities. Most people think he’ll stay. But no one I talked to really knows what he’s thinking and this is the NBA. Superstar turnover is the norm.”

This seems to be the perfect scenario for the Clippers, who are still trying to find their groove in the NBA after a first bad season with Kawhi and Paul George leading the way. The Los Angelenos team knows they can do big things as long as they have the Klaw and he appears to be ready to help them turn their history and win the NBA championship once and for all.
