NBA Rumors: Lakers Are The Favorite To Sign Darren Collison

1 Min Read

The NBA Trade Deadline has come and gone with the Lakers not making a single move. Despite a lot of talks and rumors, L.A. has remained quiet on the trade front, but it doesn’t mean they’re done making moves.

With Marcus Morris and Isaiah Thomas headed to the Clippers, L.A. is now in first-place to sign retired point guard Darren Collison.

Despite being just 31-years-old, Collison retired at the end of last season to pursue a life as a Jehovah’s Witness. Reports recently indicated a comeback in the works for the talented guard, and it was believed to be an arms race between the Lakers and Clippers to sign him.

After the bust day the Clippers just had, L.A. is now in the lead to acquire the ball-handling veteran. He has the chance to make a huge impact for the team with his two-sided game and outside shooting stroke. He can also relieve point guard duties from LeBron James and allow him to play off-ball with Anthony Davis.

Last season, Collison averaged 12.5 points, 5 assists, and 2.7 rebounds on 47% shooting.
