Now that the Kevin Durant situation has been handled, NBA free agency can finally continue where it left off weeks ago.

Even though training camp is right around the corner, multiple teams around the association find themselves in need of some more reinforcements.

One of the most lucrative free agents this summer includes veteran swingman Markieff Morris, who has been linked to several teams recently.

The Nets indeed have registered the most serious interest in signing Markieff Morris, league sources say, but Philadelphia has also explored the feasibility of signing the Philly native. Brooklyn, in particular, has a need for a veteran who can command the respect of mercurial stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Is Morris, who turns 33 on Sept. 2, that player? Word is he was not afraid, in his time as a Laker, to speak his mind in a locker room that housed James and Anthony Davis.

Morris, 32, is one-half of the NBA’s most famous set of twins. For years, Markieff and his brother (Marcus) have enjoyed prosperity in the NBA as role players and contributors for various teams.

For Kieff, his most recent season was spent with the Miami Heat, where he averaged 7.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game in a mostly injury-riddled campaign.

If he’s able to stay healthy, Morris could become a real force off the bench — but he’ll have to land in the right situation first.

“I see myself as a guy that I can get back to my old self, just playing the game the right way, not having to look over my shoulder,” said Morris on Heat culture. “I feel like we have nobody on the team like just, ‘give him the ball, and then everybody just watch and let them make the play.’ It’s a collective. We’re going to need everybody to score and rebound and defend every night. And that’s the best team to be on, when you don’t have to run to the corner every play and wait for a guy to make a play for you.”

For now, Morris’ most highly desired locations include Philadelphia and Brooklyn — for obvious reasons. He’s out here to win at all costs and will seemingly do whatever he can to put himself in a position to prosper.

The Nets and 76ers will certainly provide him a good opportunity, but it will be up to Markieff himself to prove what he can do.
