NBA Rumors: Miami Heat Could Sign Andre Drummond

After their first-round elimination, the Los Angeles Lakers have a long summer of work ahead of them.

Even despite the injuries that inhibited the play of Anthony Davis and LeBron James, it became clear in the playoffs that the Lakers need to remake their supporting cast.

Big man Andre Drummond could be a part of those changes. And while nobody knows where he might land this offseason, one team, in particular, has been connected to the 2x All-Star.

“Andre Drummond is still on the Heat’s radar,” said Ethan Skolnick of Five Reasons Sports Network.

Drummond was once considered one of the best bigs in the NBA. At one point during his stint with the Pistons, he was putting up 17.8 points, 15.8 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game on 53% shooting.

Of course, Dre isn’t really that player now. Whether the product of aging or the modern NBA playstyle, he is more of a role player than anything.

In Miami, though, he could be a great piece next to Bam Adebayo in the frontcourt. At 6-9, Bam is a bit undersized for his position, and Drummond could bring some much-needed size under the rim.

The 27-year-old center will have his pick of the crop as an unrestricted free agent this summer, so there’s really no telling where he’ll end up.
