NBA Rumors: Miami Heat Is The Best Destination If Anthony Davis Doesn’t Re-Sign With The Lakers

3 Min Read

A lot has been said about Anthony Davis’ future in the league after this season. He’s expected to hit free agency with the Los Angeles Lakers being the frontrunners to get his signature; AD pushed for a trade to Los Angeles, so it would be odd to see him leave Los Angeles after just one season at the Staples Center.

However, there are more teams interested in AD’s services. At the end of the day, he’s one of the best players in the league so he won’t miss offers to join another franchise in the association. People have talked about the New York Knicks, the Chicago Bulls, but there could be a dark horse for Davis, the Miami Heat.

Miami count with a great team full of young and promising players and veterans that have surprised everybody this season. Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and co. have led this team to be one of the best in the East this campaign. As things stand now, they’re one superstar away to be considered contenders to the title.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been mentioned to fill that spot but Anthony Davis may be a great option, too.

If the Heat doesn’t re-sign all the players who are set to become free agents this offseason, they’ll get about under $29 million in cap space. That should give them a good chance to make a move for AD. He would be playing for a team that has everything to be successful, promising young players, good veterans, a great coach and one of the best front offices in the entire league.

Pat Riley has proved over and over he can assemble a competitive team that can win it all. They have the money, they have the assets to lure AD away from Los Angeles or any other location; living in Miami is a great experience and he’ll be part of a great organization.

One thing he should have in consideration is the fact that LeBron James will be 36 next year. Sure, he was having a great season before the NBA shut down, but nobody knows how long LeBron can maintain that level. He’s great, he’s one of the best ever, but father time always wins.

Still, seeing all the things Davis did to get traded to the Lakers, it’s unlikely to see him leave the Staples Center after just one season, not even if they fail to win the championship this campaign.

Next free agency could see some big names changing teams and AD might be one of them.
