NBA Rumors: Nets, Nuggets, And Jazz Interested In P.J. Tucker

2 Min Read

35-year-old P.J. Tucker has been an important member of the Rockets for the past four seasons — averaging 6.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists on 36% shooting from downtown.

But as he approaches the end of his contract, Tucker’s future has become an increasingly hot topic. With no indication he’ll stay in Houston, several teams have expressed interest in bringing him on, whether by trade or free agency, including the Nets, Nuggets, and Jazz.

Following Harden’s trade to the Nets, The Athletic reported on several teams inquiring about Tucker’s availability. As the trade deadline approaches, that interest is still alive and well around the league from contenders. Sources say teams such as Brooklyn, Utah and Denver all have sniffed around, and there certainly will be other contenders looking to improve heading into the second half of the season (both Los Angeles teams come to mind). Tucker is still a player who can help a winning team, likely more valuable to organizations with deep playoff runs in mind than a team like Houston that is transitioning.

As a typical 3-and-D type of player, Tucker is the kind of guy you can plug into any lineup.

For the Nets, Jazz, and Nuggets, he’d help them get a step closer towards securing a title. It will be interesting to see where he ends up when it’s all said and done.
