After a year-long hiatus, NBA veteran Carmelo Anthony re-discovered his game in Portland, becoming an important part of their second unit.

But now that his contract is up, and the Blazers entering an uncertain offseason, the likelihood that he joins a new team seems high.

According to “Locked on Warriors” host Bram Hillsman, he could actually end up playing for Golden State next season.

In a discussion on the Locked on Warriors podcast, Bram Hillsman of Warriors Huddle speculated that Golden State could make a run at Carmelo Anthony this offseason. Hillsman said it must be difficult on Anthony to see friend Chris Paul finally reaching the NBA Finals, a stage that Anthony has never seen in his own career, and a move to Golden State could help him finally get a ring.

The Warriors are years removed from their superteam era. Kevin Durant is in Brooklyn, Klay Thompson is coming off two major injuries, and much of their supporting cast members from back then are no longer on the roster.

Nonetheless, adding Melo to put alongside Steph, Draymond, and a recovering Thompson could be enough to get the franchise back in the playoffs.

But we’ll see what Carmelo decides to do and if a stint with the Warriors is any part of his plan.
