The NBA offseason has seen perhaps one of the biggest names in basketball in, Kevin Durant demand a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. Ever since his trade request, multiple rumors have emerged. From contenders to wildcard teams, multiple teams have emerged as a potential suitors for KD.
Although the number of suitors might be quite a lot, it seems like Durant’s list is limited only to a couple of teams. With the 34-year-old expecting to join a contender, teams like the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and Phoenix Suns might be the teams who could add Durant to their lineup.
A few days ago, the Celtics emerged as the favorites to trade for the forward. With a deal centered around Jaylen Brown, the Celtics had a great offer on the table for Brooklyn to opt for. But the Nets reportedly wanted more from the deal.
Recently, a fan proposed an unreal another trade. A fan suggested that the Celtics will trade their young core of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown along with veteran Al Horford in exchange for Durant and the Nets’ January acquisition Ben Simmons.
Given how bold of a trade idea this is, many fans have understandably reacted to the same.
“I think we all know this isn’t happening lmao”
“Lowkey would be interesting ngl”
“Boston do this it’s a riot”
“Already saw the JT Brown and kyrie trio not work once….. why try again?!?”
“Nets are on some big crack”
“That trade looks good to me”
“C’s ought to trade Timelord and Smart before Tatum to me”
“The nets team is basically Celtics lol without Harris”
“Bruh how would kd win without at least one of brown and tatum?!!”
“Tatum and Brown are still hella young, they would be dumb to give up those pieces… Especially when Boston just beat them”
“Nets gotta stop this. they not getting all of that.”
“Celtics would never”
This is certainly a wild trade prediction to make. What makes the Celtics an exciting team at their core is their young superstars. Although they could not win the NBA title last season, if Brown and Tatum stick around, the Celtics will be expected to compete for multiple championships. Trading both the players for an unproven pair of Durant and Simmons is highly unlikely.
Not only will this give the Celtics Durant and Ben Simmons, who hasn’t played a single game last season, but the Nets will also be the ultimate winners of this trade as they will have the perfect mix of veterans and talented young players.
Meanwhile, if the Celts try to trade only for KD by giving up Brown and some good role players, a trade seems highly likely. The Celtics haven’t made any significant roster move for a reason. They probably have a complete roster right now and are in a win-now mode. Will they be willing to take a risk and break the team for a proven champion like Durant? Only time will tell.
