NBA Insider Says Kevin Durant Will Play For Nets If He Is Not Traded: “He’s Not Going To Sit Out Or Anything Like That.”

Kevin Durant has notably requested a trade this offseason, and there’s no question that many teams have been trying to find a way to acquire the superstar forward. Thus far though, the Brooklyn Nets haven’t been able to find a trade that they like.

In the past, we have seen some players such as Ben Simmons sit out while they waited for the team to trade them. However, an NBA executive spoke to Sean Bulpett of Heavy.com and has suggested that he doesn’t foresee Kevin Durant sitting out. The executive cited himself knowing Kevin Durant and added that Kevin Durant is not the “kind of guy” who would do such a thing.

“I don’t see KD being a hard line guy, either. If they can’t get a deal done, he’s just going to say, ‘[Expletive] it,’ and he’ll play — and he’ll play hard like he always does. I know KD, and he’s not going to sit out or anything like that. He’s not that kind of guy. There’s no way. He’s not going to do anything like that.

“If Brooklyn wants to be good now, the fastest way to that is KD and Kyrie and (Ben) Simmons together playing well. With anything else, you’re pretty much scrambling this season and waiting for those draft picks to bring you something good down the line. No matter who you bring back in a trade now, he’s not going to be KD.”

It remains to be seen if Kevin Durant does in fact get traded, and there are other teams than the Nets that would be contenders with him on the roster. However, there is also a path to contention with the Brooklyn Nets, who have two other All-Stars in Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons on the roster.

Hopefully, we see Kevin Durant end up on a championship-contending team, whether it is on the Brooklyn Nets or otherwise. He is a player that has a lot left in the tank, and perhaps we’ll see Kevin Durant win another championship in the near future.
