NBA Rumors: Cavs Could Land Andre Drummond

The trade season is here and every day we learn more rumors about the moves that could happen in the NBA. This year we have some big names on the trade market, with Andre Drummond considered the biggest one of all.

It’s curious to see that Drummond has been involved in plenty of rumors in recent days, but now reports suggest he has drawn attention from the Cleveland Cavaliers. When we remember the Cavaliers current moment, it’s hard to think about them considering a move for Drummond and most important, Drummond going to play with them.

The Pistons have reportedly had trade talks about Drummond with the Atlanta Hawks this past week, while several other teams have also been linked to the All-Star center. ESPN’s Bobby Marks broke down every team’s respective situations heading into the February 6th deadline.

According to Marks, the Cavaliers may be mulling about the cost of being one of Drummond’s sweepstakes. Cleveland have the second-best player on the trade market, Kevin Love, and the list of suitors for the big man only gets bigger.

However, Cleveland are still deciding if they trade him this season or in the summer. Detroit’s asking price for Drummond will be high, so Cleveland would have to part ways with some of their young players and future assets along with salary filler to acquire Drummond from the Pistons, in a move that doesn’t make a lot of sense for a rebuilding squad.

Andre still has one year remaining on his contract worth $28.8-million but can opt-out in July 2020 to become an unrestricted free agent. He definitely wants to play for a contender, so making a move for him, giving up so many things, is not a good move for Cleveland.

We’re still a couple of weeks away from the trade deadline; we’ll see how this thing goes. For the Cavs, they should stay just like they are right now and see what they can get in return for Kevin Love.
