The future of LeBron James is one of the hottest talking points in the NBA right now. James still has an active contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, but the Purple and Gold have somewhat failed to surround James with enough help to win another NBA Championship.

For the first few months of the season, LeBron James has been nothing but patient with the organization. He put his head down and focused on playing at an elite level for the Lakers. Despite James having an MVP-like season, the Lakers are still below .500 and have a record of 19-22. Keeping that in mind, many believe that the King will request a trade from the Lakers this summer.

James, 38, is still one of the best players in the NBA, and keeping that in mind, there are many possible destinations for LeBron James if he indeed requests a trade. The Miami Heat are touted to be a top destination for him. But apart from that, the Golden State Warriors may also try to acquire King James.

The Golden State Warriors Could Trade For LeBron James If They Want To Enter Win-Now Mode

The Golden State Warriors are the defending champions of the NBA. They still have their core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green intact. But apart from that, the Warriors are blessed with in terms of having talented young stars on the roster, such as Jordan Poole, James Wiseman, and Jonathan Kuminga.

With that being said, the Dubs can either keep their young core and develop them over the next few seasons. Otherwise, they could use those assets to indulge themselves in a blockbuster trade to acquire LeBron James. Well, Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports recently revealed that the possibility of the latter happening aren’t that less as some may think.

Via Heavy:

Western Conference executive: “If there is a bidding war going on at some point, the Warriors are in a great position because they can give you the young guys—(James) Wiseman or (Jonathan) Kuminga or (Moses) Moody, or (Pat) Baldwin, whoever the Lakers want. But you have to add either (Jordan) Poole or (Andrew) Wiggins, and that’s not easy. But if they want to win now, you can give up Poole if you are getting back LeBron, right? If they keep Draymond (Green) and come back with Steph (Curry), Klay Thompson, Draymond and LeBron, that would be a fun, fun team to watch.”

Potential deal: Poole’s extension, worth almost $140 million over four seasons, starts next year, and could prove to be a good deal if Poole (who is 23) can rediscover his shooting form. The Lakers can look to the future by adding Wiseman and Kuminga to the mix.

LeBron James and Stephen Curry had a great rivalry for years when they faced off against each other in the NBA Finals for four straight seasons. But seeing them play together on the same team would simply be too insane and a dream come true for NBA fans.

But will the Warriors really give up their young core to enter win-now mode? That’s something that only the Warriors front office can answer.
