The Golden State Warriors have been far from perfect in the 2022-23 NBA season. They have struggled throughout the season to win games consistently. Despite that, the Dubs will at least manage to advance to the playoffs, at least for now.
But this summer, the Dubs may be in need of making a blockbuster trade and adding a superstar to the team alongside the aging trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. Well, as per Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, the Dubs could use Jordan Poole in a potential blockbuster trade.
“Golden State won’t have the cap space to sign an impact player, but it could swing a major trade if needed,” Buckley wrote. “Is there a possibly available star who might be worth sacrificing Jonathan Kuminga and his sky-high potential? Do opposing teams think they can build an offense around Jordan Poole? If they do, his trade value would be enough to anchor a blockbuster.”
In the last year or so, Jordan Poole has developed into an amazing player and played a crucial role in helping the Warriors win the 2022 NBA Championship.
This season, Poole is averaging a solid 21.0 PPG, 2.8 RPG, and 4.6 APG while playing 30.7 minutes per game. So the Warriors have a key decision to make this summer, which is whether to keep Jordan Poole on the roster or use his rising trade value to get a well-established superstar in return.
The Golden State Warriors Can Keep Jordan Poole And Still Land A Superstar
The biggest advantage that the Warriors have right now is arguably having an abundance of valuable trade assets. So much so that if the Warriors wish to keep Poole on the roster, they can still figure out a way to trade for a superstar this summer.
They can try to create a superteam by landing Karl-Anthony Towns. The trade package in question will be Karl-Anthony Towns for Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga, Gary Payton II, 2023 First-Round Pick, 2025 First-Round Pick, and 2027 First-Round Pick.
On the other hand, the Warriors can also try to make a blockbuster trade for Anthony Davis. The trade package that would help Davis become a member of the Warriors would send Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins, and Jonathan Kuminga to the Lakers.
As of now, these are nothing but hypothetical situations. We will get a much better idea of the Warriors’ plans for this summer in the coming months.
