With the Lakers’ trade for Rui Hachimura, the NBA trade season has officially been spurned into action. Talks for other players on the market are bound to intensify with New York Knicks’ wing Cam Reddish, one of the most interesting names on the market.

Multiple teams have expressed interest in Reddish, with the Milwaukee Bucks among the most active names in those discussions. Milwaukee is looking to move Grayson Allen’s $8.5 million contract for a more complementary player. While Allen has been primarily linked to moves that bring Eric Gordon or Jae Crowder to the squad, HoopsHype believes New York may be his next destination in a move for Reddish.

“The Milwaukee Bucks were one of several teams to express interest in trading for Reddish. With trade talks surrounding Reddish ongoing, the Knicks have expressed interest in Bucks starter Grayson Allen, a career 39.5 percent three-point shooter, league sources told HoopsHype.” (h/t HoopsHype)

Given the fact that the Bucks haven’t seen movement on Allen-oriented trade offers for Crowder and Gordon, Reddish is a great backup option to have. However, even HoopsHype believes that the Bucks would rather trade for one of the two veterans instead of Reddish.

Would This Trade Be Good For Both Teams?

An Allen-Reddish trade brings up interesting questions for both teams. Are the Bucks confident enough that Cam can be a regular in their playoff rotation after falling out of the rotation in both Atlanta and New York? The Knicks would definitely benefit, as Allen might be a more reliable option for coach Tom Thibodeau instead of Immanuel Quickley, a player the Knicks have shown interest in trading.

Which team gives which teams draft compensation will be tough to decipher. Reddish technically shouldn’t have serious value because he’s an impending free agent, but the Knicks may have plenty of options that they would part with in a second for him. The Bucks are already giving up a veteran rotational player, so the cost of adding a pick may not be justified for them.

It’s unlikely we see this trade executed despite the interest from both parties as they both could find better partners for the assets that they are willing to give up.
