The Los Angeles Lakers might not be done making moves this 2022-23 NBA season, as the Purple and Gold have gotten used to shocking the community with the most unexpected moves, just like it happened last week with Rui Hachimura and his surprising move to Los Angeles.

Rob Pelinka could make one or two moves before the deadline strikes, which makes Lakers fans dream about this team climbing positions on the leaderboard and perhaps making a deep playoff run, even if that means parting with Russell Westbrook, who has thrived off the bench this season.

The legendary point guard has been linked with a move to different teams, including the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, and Charlotte Hornets. Michael Jordan’s team has struggled this campaign, and perhaps the addition of Russ could bring them back to playoff contention in the Eastern Conference, and according to recent rumors, that could actually happen.

Russell Westbrook Could Join Charlotte Hornets Before Trade Deadline

According to Sam Amico of Hoops Wire, the Los Angeles Lakers and Charlotte Hornets keep talking about a trade centered around Russell Westbrook, but also Patrick Beverley. These two have had different roles for the Lakers this campaign, and Russ has thrived on him, while Beverley hasn’t really made a big impact.

The Lakers continue to search for trades centered on guards Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley. They have been in contact with the Hornets lately, sources said.

This would be a very interesting move for the Hornets, who currently rank 14th in the East. Of course, bringing in Westbrook won’t assure that they will be successful, but somebody with his mentality and experience could really help the struggling Hornets. They’ve been dealing with injuries and off-court issues that have made it hard for them to compete.

Russ could become the leader they need and a mentor for LaMelo Ball and the young guys, but we still have to wait and see if the Lakers and Hornets agree to this move and what the Purple and Gold will receive in exchange for Brodie.
