NBA Rumors: Terrence Ross Is A Realistic Trade Target For Lakers

Terrence Ross is well-known for being a bench scorer that can get his own baskets and provide an offensive spark. He is currently averaging 11.1 PPG, 2.6 RPG, and 2.0 APG for the Orlando Magic.

A veteran like Terrence Ross should likely be on a contending team, rather than the rebuilding Orlando Magic. It seems as though the Lakers could grant him that opportunity. Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times has recently revealed that Terrence Ross is a “realistic target” for the Los Angeles Lakers. It seems as though Talen Horton-Tucker and a first-round pick is the asking price.

“A more realistic target, sources said, would be Orlando’s Terrence Ross. To get him, the Lakers would need to include Horton-Tucker and maybe that first-round pick and be willing to take on a player who has seen his efficiency diminish over the last three seasons, never a good sign for the kind of shooter Ross is purported to be.”

There is no question that Terrence Ross could help the Los Angeles Lakers. While it is true that his efficiency has diminished over the last few years, as Woike mentions, it is possible that playing with a player that can help set him up with easy shots like LeBron James could help him be more efficient. Ross is a career 36.4% 3PT shooter, and if he can provide some spacing on the roster, that will help the slashers on the team, most notably Russell Westbrook.

It remains to be seen if the Los Angeles Lakers do in fact make this trade. They have recently been linked with another option on the wing in Josh Richardson as well, and it is clear that they’re looking for a player that can be impactful during their playoff run. Hopefully, we see them acquire someone that can contribute to their team and help them potentially avoid the play-in tournament.
