Julius Randle has had an inconsistent tenure with the New York Knicks, but it is clear that he is back to being an All-Star caliber player this season. Currently, Julius Randle is averaging 24.2 PPG, 10.0 RPG, and 3.8 APG.

Last season and even earlier this year, we’ve seen Julius Randle be featured in a number of trade rumors. Many people thought that he was on a poor contract, and suggested that the Knicks should move him.

Even though there may have been discussions about Julius Randle previously, it seems as though the New York Knicks are committed to their power forward. A report from Ian Begley of SNY revealed that though there were “more than cursory conversations” about a Randle trade before, there’s no “desire to trade” him currently.

“Prior to the draft last year I think there was more than cursory conversations about a deal involving Randle, but, ultimately, there was no buy-in at the top of the Knicks organization to pull the trigger on that deal and that’s why I’ve said since then…I don’t see a deal where the Knicks would just get off of Julius Randle…It’s not going to be some salary dump and I think that people in touch with the Knicks even recently are under the impression that the people at the top of the front office–Leon Rose, Williams Wesley, Brock Aller, Scott Perry, the whole group–I don’t think there’s any desire to trade Julius Randle.

A number of teams were connected to Julius Randle previously, including the Miami Heat. However, it is clear that the New York Knicks are backing their power forward, now that he’s back in All-Star form.

Julius Randle Wants To Win At All Costs

Even though some questioned how good of a player Julius Randle actually was during his struggles, one of the things that shouldn’t be questioned is the former All-Star’s desire to win. In fact, Julius Randle even destroyed chairs in the locker room after a close loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

Knicks F Julius Randle destroyed chairs in American Airlines Center’s visitors locker room and in the arena hallways following New York’s loss to the Dallas Mavs.

The New York Knicks are currently the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference, and it is clear that they’re doing a lot better than they were last season. Hopefully, they can keep it up.

Julius Randle will be key for the New York Knicks if they are to make the playoffs and make a deep run. The team needs him to continue being an offensive engine, and we’ll see how he fares throughout the rest of the season.
