NBA Rumors: Dallas Mavericks Could Land Rudy Gobert If Utah Jazz Make Him Available

The Dallas Mavericks were one of the most active teams during the last trade deadline, but they might be getting ready to make another big move to assemble the best team around Luka Doncic.

After a failed partnership with Kristaps Porzingis, the Mavs split up that duo, landing Spencer Dinwiddie in a big move that sent KP to the Washington Wizards. Well, the Texans aren't done dealing for big men and they could test the market if one of the best centers in the league is available this offseason.

According to Tim MacMahon of ESPN, Rudy Gobert is on the radar of the Dallas Mavericks and they could make a move for him if the Utah Jazz were to make him available.

MacMahon stated on the Lowe Post podcast that the Mavs would have 'significant interest' in Gobert should he be available in trade talks. Moreover, he says that the Frenchman would “love to play with Luka.”

After a tumultuous stint with Porzingis, the Mavericks need to be careful about who they pair Doncic with. Gobert is a solid player, one of the best defenders in the NBA, and he could take the team to the next level.

Luka is trying to have a deep playoff run with the Mavericks and it seems like this year he could finally get past the first round of the postseason. Perhaps adding Gobert could be the final step they need to make to come out of the West and win it all. Luka has stated he wants to win with the Mavs and the front office needs to add the pieces he needs to make the leap.

A tandem of Doncic and Gobert would be dangerous for the West, but we need to wait and see if the Jazz place the 3x DPOY on the market and what the Mavericks can send to Utah in exchange for the defensive specialist.
