Power forward Zion Williamson is one of the best young players when he is on the court and the best player on the New Orleans Pelicans. He is an elite slasher, and his athleticism and talent suggest that he might become a superstar in the league one day.
Despite his talent, it seems as though there is a realistic chance that Zion Williamson will get moved. Recently, Bill Simmons claimed that a league source told him the Pelicans would trade Zion Williamson before Thursday.
“The Zion thing is a real subplot… I had somebody tell me yesterday that I trust, he will not be on that team come Thursday.”

It has been reported that the Pelicans will aggressively try to move up to the No. 2 or the No. 3 pick in this year’s NBA Draft to draft Scoot Henderson. That is likely the only realistic scenario in which Zion Williamson would be traded.
This season, Zion Williamson averaged 26.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG, and 4.6 APG for the New Orleans Pelicans. He shot 60.8% from the field as well, and it is hard to give up on a talent like that. However, he has only played 29 games, so perhaps the New Orleans Pelicans are concerned about him missing games and his poor availability.
Zion Williamson Reportedly Has No Relationship With The New Orleans Pelicans
There is no doubt that there has been some friction between Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans in the past. The team has been frustrated with Williamson on occasion, and a recent report from Brian Windhorst revealed that the star has no relationship with the team.
“There is no relationship between Zion and the organization,” Brian Windhorst said on The Hoop Collective podcast. “And minimal relationship between Zion and his teammates, from what I understand.”
When one takes this report into consideration, it is easy to see why the New Orleans Pelicans would trade Zion Williamson. He is clearly not fully invested in the franchise and has already been linked to the New York Knicks. Hopefully, we see the Pelicans work out a suitable deal for Williamson, and we’ll see what ends up happening in the future.
