NBA Rumors: Pelicans Could Trade Lonzo Ball, JJ Redick, And Eric Bledsoe

The New Orleans Pelicans are considered one of the most promising teams in the NBA right now but they’re still looking to get upgrades and give it a run at the playoffs sooner than expected. With players like Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram leading the pack, they’re expected to compete in the league in the next couple of seasons.

However, the front office could make some quick changes to the team and reports suggest they have reached out to different teams offering Lonzo Ball, JJ Redick, and Eric Bledsoe. The trade deadline will strike on March 25 and the Pels are looking to make some trades to face the remainder of the season.

“New Orleans appears willing to wait and assess before committing to any player’s long-term status alongside Williamson, and that is also why Ball’s name, in particular, has been widely discussed in preliminary trade conversations this winter,” Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer wrote. “You’d be hard-pressed to find a team New Orleans hasn’t phoned to gauge interest in Ball, JJ Redick, and Eric Bledsoe. ‘They’ve been calling, and where there’s smoke, there’s fire,’ said one assistant general manager.”

Ball and Redick are very likely to hit free agency next summer and the Pels want to get something in return from two players who can be good on another team in the association. With Bledsoe, though, the situation is more complicated. He still has two years remaining in his deal and that would be an issue for New Orleans.

The Pels are still trying to find ways to get in the playoff pictures and depending on the result of these trades, they could have a better or worst chance to make it. Right now they rank 11th in the West with a 15-19 record after a big win over the Utah Jazz.
