Point guard Damian Lillard is well-known as one of the top superstars in the league, and there’s no doubt that he’s the face of the Portland Trail Blazers. Lillard is one of the most loyal players in the league and has spent his entire 11-year career with the Trail Blazers organization.

Despite his loyalty, it seems as though every season, there are rumors about him potentially getting traded. According to NBA insider Chris Haynes in the scenario that Damian Lillard wants a trade, the team would be willing to send him to an Eastern Conference team of his choice.

“If it gets to that point, they would consult with Dame. He’s been there 10 years, he’s been a model citizen, represented that city and organization with class. I think they would try to get him where he wants to go in the East.”

If the Trailblazers and Damian Lillard ever decided to pursue a hypothetical trade, the Portland Trailblazers would assist in sending Lillard to his desired location in the East, per Chris Haynes

It is clear that the Portland Trail Blazers would be willing to accommodate a franchise legend and get him to a place where he can compete. Damian Lillard recently admitted that he’d be willing to be traded to the Miami Heat, and we’ll see if he ends up there in the future.

Damian Lillard has averaged 32.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 7.3 APG for the Portland Trail Blazers this season. That got him on the third All-NBA team, and it is clear that he’s still playing at a high level.

Damian Lillard Won’t Join The Heat If They Win 2023 Championship

Even though he would clearly be willing to join the Miami Heat in a trade, Damian Lillard clarified that he wouldn’t join them if they won the 2023 championship. This stance from him makes sense, as Damian Lillard is a competitor who doesn’t just want to latch on to a team that has already won a championship.

“I am participating in trying to build what we’re trying to build. If Miami wins a championship, that definitely ain’t happening.”

The Miami Heat have frequently struggled with their offense throughout the playoffs, and adding Damian Lillard would be one way to solve that problem. There are already other teams that are trying to acquire him, such as the Phoenix Suns, and it is clear that the Heat will have some competition in a Lillard trade. However, ultimately, where Damian Lillard ends up will be up to him.
