NBA Rumors: Spurs Could Have Traded Dejounte Murray And Lonnie Walker IV For Ben Simmons

2 Min Read

The San Antonio Spurs have been linked with Ben Simmons in the past couple of weeks. The Texan franchise and its head coach Gregg Popovich have always admired the Philadelphia 76ers point guard.

Simmons is reportedly keen to join a different franchise, and the Spurs might be that new home for him. Recent reports suggest the Texans were ready to send two of their most promising players to Philadelphia in exchange for the Australian point guard.

According to Jake Fisher of Bleacher Report, Dejounte Murray and Lonnie Walker IV could’ve found their way to Philly in exchange for the 2018 Rookie of the Year.

“San Antonio was open to discussing Dejounte Murray and Lonnie Walker IV before the draft, sources said, and the Spurs added more enticing future draft capital in their sign-and-trade that delivered DeMar DeRozan to Chicago. Could the starting points of that package be enough to truly intrigue Philly,” writes Fisher.

As stated before, it’s not a secret that Popovich is a big fan of Simmons, and he doesn’t even care about Ben’s shooting struggles. Perhaps a move to San Antonio is what he needs to get things back on track.

The playmaker can be a great addition to any franchise in the league, and the Spurs are well aware of that. Maybe this won’t be the last time the Spurs are linked with a move for the 25-year-old.
