The NBA All-Star Game rosters were announced in their entirety earlier today, with the 12-man rosters on both conferences being decided. While a host of first-time All-Stars have been named, some veteran names missed out.

One of those names is Atlanta Hawks guard and three-time All-Star Trae Young, who’s been snubbed from being named by voters for the last three seasons. Young took to social media to share his feelings, saying the word snubbed should be replaced with his name.

“It’s no longer getting “snubbed” it’s getting “Traed” at this point. Sorry to my fans… It’ll change eventually! All right, talk soon!”

Young is a three-time All-Star, but he has actually never been named as a reserve. His appearances in 2020 and 2022 came as an All-Star starter where the fan vote ensured he’d have a spot in the middle of an objectively great statistical season.

In the three seasons since Young hasn’t been named through voting even once but made the game as an injury-replacement for Julius Randle last season.

He’s averaging 22.5 points and 11.4 assists this season, leading the league in assists. His scoring output is noticeably down, which is probably why he fell below everyone’s radar for an All-Star selection. He’s also shooting 40.0% from the field and the Hawks are below .500 with a 22-26 record.

The NBA All-Star Reserves And Major Snubs

The Eastern Conference reserves include Darius Garland, Damian Lillard, Jaylen Brown, Evan Mobley, Tyler Herro, Cade Cunningham, and Pascal Siakam

It’s hard to say Young got truly snubbed because I would struggle to put him in over any of the mentioned guards. Garland, Lillard, Herro, and Cunningham are all having more impactful seasons as efficient scorers on winning teams. Young is easily the best playmaker of the lot, but his scoring and winning impact has been lesser than them while his defensive impact continues to be among the worst in the NBA.

Another East snub is considered to be LaMelo Ball, who led fan voting for guards in the East but hasn’t gotten love from any other voting bloc. Ball’s gaudy numbers don’t cover up for the complete directionless basketball the Charlotte Hornets are playing, as Ball’s stat-stuffing won’t get him votes until he also adds wins.

The Western Conference All-Star Reserves include Victor Wembanyama, Anthony Davis, Anthony Edwards, Jalen Williams, James Harden, Jaren Jackson Jr., and. Alperen Sengun.

The biggest snubs in the West came in the guard category again, with Kyrie Irving and Devin Booker missing out.

Irving has been having another efficient scoring season with his contributions keeping the Mavericks in Playoff contention despite Luka Doncic being out for over half the season. Meanwhile, Booker is doing everything he can to help the Suns be competitive but his slight regression in statistics and the Suns’ overall record has caused this snub for him.

More players are bound to be named as injury replacements, but the conversations around this year’s All-Star game will be fierce.
