Jimmy Butler has been hilariously going at Buddy Hield for much of their time as teammates on the Golden State Warriors, and he was at it again during the preseason. Butler found Hield for a wide-open three-pointer from the corner in the first quarter of Sunday’s clash against the Los Angeles Lakers, but the sharpshooter missed, and the forward wasn’t happy.

That was hilarious. While Hield missed on that occasion, he did end up hitting a fair few shots in their preseason opener against the Lakers. The 32-year-old had 11 points (5-10 FG), two rebounds, three assists, and three steals on the night as the Warriors won 111-103. It was a solid performance, but you would imagine it wasn’t good enough to get a pat on the back from Butler.
Even when Hield impressed against the Houston Rockets in the playoffs last season, Butler wasn’t too keen on praising him. They are a hilarious duo, and their interactions tend to be comedy gold more often than not.
After that series against the Rockets, Hield took a shot at Butler by telling him he was no longer Robin, but Alfred. The Bahamian was the one who had risen to the occasion in the do-or-die Game 7, scoring 33 points to power the Warriors to victory. The team wishes he played that well on a consistent basis.
Someone who has delivered fairly consistently for the Warriors is Butler. We haven’t really seen many of those explosive performances that the 36-year-old had with the Miami Heat, but he has been a steady presence on both ends of the court.
Butler had nine points (3-4 FG), four rebounds, and two assists against the Lakers. It was initially unclear if the six-time All-Star would play in this contest after he rolled his ankle a few days ago, but he was able to brush it off.
The Warriors will be playing four more preseason games, and their next outing is against the Portland Trail Blazers at Chase Center on Wednesday at 10 PM ET.
Jimmy Butler Trolled Buddy Hield On Media Day
The Butler and Hield comedy show began on the Warriors’ media day itself. When the former was talking to the reporters, the latter walked into the room, and a hilarious scene unfolded. Butler stated he could feel the evilness as Hield walked in, and posed a question to his teammate.
“Did you hear the nice things I said about you?” Butler asked.
Hield asked the reporters what Butler had said about him and fell right into the trap.
“Nothing,” Butler said. “That’s why you didn’t hear.”
Expect these two to keep this up over the course of the season. Warriors fans have loved watching these interactions, and they’d be hoping they enjoy what unfolds on the court in the 2025-26 season, too.
The Warriors were the seventh seed in the West last season with a 48-34 record and lost in five games to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Conference Semifinals.
